Community Builders Profiles Thomas Murphy When Thomas Murphy took office as mayor of Pittsburgh in 1994, he began to reinvent public housing, redevelop old neighborhoods, and revitalize the downtown. Ironically, as he jumped into action, he made few friends and plenty of enemies. “I’ve learned that at least 100 people will tell you that you can’t do something.
